Pensacola News Journal Endorses Chris Washler for County Commissioner, District 5
District 5 (R): Chris Washler
Washler shows the most promise among candidates for the County Commission to bring innovative, new ideas from the business world onto the commission.
A successful entrepreneur as founder and CEO of a high-tech company, he displays a probing intelligence and an analytical mind.
He's not a native, but he's familiar with the Escambia County story nonetheless: "I grew up in a county where there were few opportunities. I couldn't wait to leave," he said. "I want my children to be able to return here after college."
He said progress has been made with the county budget, "but it had to be forced on the commission. There's still a long way to go. They were able to cut $12 million without really trying, and that means there is a lot more."
Washler gives the kind of solid, thoughtful answers to questions about county problems you would expect from a seasoned elected official. That bodes well for his learning curve in office.
And he clearly states the obvious: "I think the County Commission lagged behind the public quite a bit (on Touart's actions). It should have gotten ahead of the citizens."

Washler pre-files for Escambia County Commission, District 5
Cantonment – Chris Washler, an Escambia County business owner, has pre-filed to seek the Republican nomination for Escambia County Commission representing District 5 in northern Escambia County.
Washler and his wife, Tammy, and their two daughters live in Cantonment. Washler is the President of Infinity Tech Solutions, a local technology support company. He is active with the Cantonment Rotary Club, Chain Reaction, Cokesbury United Methodist Church, and the Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce.
